Biography of His Excellency Bishop Williamson
His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson was born in London on March 8, 1940. After graduating from Cambridge University, he began a teaching career. He converted from Anglicanism, and, in October 1972, he entered the seminary of Ecône. Ordained to the priesthood in 1976, he was in turn professor at the seminary, vice-rector, and rector of the seminary in the US. On June 30, 1988, he was consecrated a bishop by His Grace Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. He continued in his office as rector of St Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona, MN. In 2003, he was appointed rector of the seminary of La Reja in Argentina. His Excellency Bishop Williamson is fluent in English, French, German and Spanish and he knows Italian.
